Monday Giveaway - Which Way Does The Crow Fly?

Groan groan it is Monday again, but here at the happiest place on earth we have a reason to smile. Ok fine, it's not Disneyland and I'm far from your cheesy chipper host but come on, Mondays ARE fun at StepfordDreams.com because we have PRIZES!

I'm very excited about this one. The gorgeous guys at Resist Today have very kindly donated this stunning pillow for this week's giveaway.

Resist Today is an art collective run by two Florida artists, Josh and Dave. They create an outlet for themselves and other artists to sell their work at affordable prices so that everyone can enjoy great images and ideas. They print artists' work on t-shirts, cushions, wallets, posters, pins and stickers.
"With so little public space available for art some of us turn to a street sign, abandon building or overpass; we think shirts and wallets are just as good of an art surface."
Hear hear! I love their online store, it is fabulous and I think you will agree.
The gorgeous Crow Pillow is one of only 45 and features the elegant work of Eleanor Grosch. I did some searching and I found out that she has an awesome blog as well.
You can check that out here if you like.
If you'd like to be in the running for this beautiful Crow Pillow then all you need to do is check out the Resist Today store and leave me a comment below saying what you love and why. Simple! Spread the word! Tinker will draw the winner on Friday.
P.s Re last week's giveaway- Jess can you please shoot me an email with your details so I can get your prize out to you and little Max! Thanks.
Edited: Re Butterfly's comments, please enter! As with ALL of my giveaways it does not matter where you live, giveaways are for everyone. I hate those blogs that restrict prizes based on geography. So far we have had winners from all over the world, so please do enter.

Fancy a whine?

Since I fell pregnant with my daughter I have been whining about the lack of quality nursery furniture in Australia. Everything is clunky and ugly and most nurseries are horribly twee and completely lacking in style. Sorry Australia but your kids rooms are bad! It isn't just the Winnie The Poo wall vinyl letting us down it is the chunky glider chairs like these:

Can someone honestly hold their head up high and say they think this "pleather" glider is nice piece of furniture, can they, honestly? What is nice about it?

Now who actually thinks this fugly plastic/polyester ensemble is "fit for a princess"?

What is going on in this country how can we be so uninspired?

Look at this bedding:

This is what many Australian parents aspire to when it comes to their dream nursery:

It is so horrid, we are so deprived when it comes to great stores for children over here. I wasted hours online when I was pregnant trying to figure out how I'd import some stylish nursery furniture into the country. In the end I had to settle for making do with slightly changing drawer pulls and making some of the soft furnishings myself.

I'll post pics in a few months time but for now please join me in a collective groan about how lacking Australia is when it comes to gorgeous baby things.

The yanks might have half their population living like paupers in the 3rd world, the most hideous health care system and millions of freaks with guns but at least they have cool glider chairs like these.

Yep there are wars on, people are dying, the economy is a mess and I have just wasted an entire post on a rant about daggy nurseries. Sorry about that. Humour me, someone has to be shallow. Without me, how would you know that your quality blog posts on world politics and complex human emotions were so well thought out and worthwhile?

Echoes

Our house has so many empty spaces that our daughter crawls from room to room shouting just to hear her voice echoing. Sad, really!

See we moved from an inner-city Victorian terrace to a large Federation family home. We blew the budget just buying the house so we have not been able to furnish it. All we have is what we brought with us from the old place and that isn't much at all. The biggest void is the formal lounge and formal dining rooms. They are completely empty!

Unable to decide on a style of decor for those rooms, it is probably for the best that we have no money to furnish them. Here is a photo I found on Architectural Digest I think it is a great example of the look I hope to achieve in the formal lounge room when we eventually get around to furnishing it.

I think it is gorgeous, really warm and homely but also slightly more formal than the typical Australian lounge room. This is a photo of Kelsey Grammer's home in Colorado I love that is has lots of beautiful colours, patterns and textures, nothing too OTT American- only slightly quirky but elegant. Really it is just perfect for what I have in mind.

At the moment our house is a mixture of styles I think, we love to buy things from a local furniture store called Coco Republic, we have many of our lights from there. They also have gorgeous furniture and they tend to have very big items as well. Nowadays people tend to have smaller homes so it is tricky to find large dining tables and lounge suites that aren't hideously garish but Coco Republic manage it well. Nothing too loud and gaudy. We tend to choose muted colours and lots of black features like the signature CR tripod lamps so I think when we do get around to furnishing the formal rooms we will branch out and go for colour.

We will probably return to old faithful Coco when do get around to finishing the decor in our bedroom but I thought I might just show you a gorgeous setee I found from Martha Stewart's Bernhardt range. This will work wonderfully under the side window in our bedroom in between where we have the bed and the fireplace.

Alas these rooms are a long way off. In the meantime I think I'll have a Cherry Ripe and sit back and enjoy the silence while my little bunny sleeps the night away. Have a great evening!
