Want to have a whale of a time? Get your jugs out!

So I was sitting down enjoying a cup of hot tea this morning. Why do I mention the fact that my tea was hot? Because lately I have been drinking lukewarm tea thanks to the constant interruptions of a certain engaging redhead. Anyway I was enjoying my break while her Grandad took her out on a walk and Viv's latest post featuring a nice jug reminded me of a post I wanted to write.

I have a thing for jugs. Get your filthy minds out of the gutter, you know who you are! I am talking about jugs usually called pitchers by my yank friends. I can't explain what it is about this piece of tableware but I'm a big fan.

One of my favourite wedding gifts was a pewter water jug by South African sculptor Carol Boyes. Here is a similar one:

My friend Glen received an awesome jug for his birthday last week and I thought I'd share it with you. It is a piece by American pottery guru Jonathan Adler.

Now I'm sure all you cool American readers know this fellow already but I'm slow off the mark and I must say I've totally fallen for him. He can be my new gay-husband. He is fabulous I love his work.

I don't know where to find Jonathan's pieces here in Australia but I will keep an eye out and maybe I'll just have to fire up that American post office box again. You know the secret shopping one I leased and successfully hid from my husband for almost a year? Now that was a cunning covert operation let me tell you!

This is the whale jug that Glen's sister bought for him and I have decided that I absolutely need one of my very own.

They also have a gorgeous matching butter dish. Again a piece of tableware I have a freaky fascination for. How can you not love a butter dish? I also love butter knives.

Freak alert. I know. But it could be worse couldn't it? It's not like I'm Angelina that time she revealed her love for knife throwing and bondage is it?

Anyway girls, get your jugs out because they are gorgeous not just for drinks but for holding a bunch of cute flowers picked fresh from your very own garden. Tinker is obsessed with picking the nastertions from our weed infested garden. They actually have a really beautiful scent. The ones we have here are bright orange but otherwise identical to this one pictured below.

Have a very happy Thursday, I will see you all again tomorrow. Please make sure you enter my giveaway today. Tinker will be drawing the winner tomorrow. Who doesn't love a cute baby gift? These little cocoons are ideal as gifts for baby showers and new babies. So sweet, so snug. xx

Another Winner!

First thing this morning little Tinker and I had a chat with "Rocket" her frog puppet (I guess she named him after Rocket in the Fimbles. She is so clever my kid!)

We decided to put all the numbers into the puppet and Tinker chose the winner!

The third entrant is... Auntie Em! You won! You won! Please shoot me an email with your details so I can pass them onto Viv. You are going to love this prize. Thanks again to everyone who entered and a big thanks to you Viv for this great prize.

Please make sure you all check back on Monday morning because I have another fabulous giveaway. This time it is something really special for the littlest one in your life!

Have a great weekend.

Monday Giveaway!

Happy Long Weekend to everyone celebrating!

We had a wonderful day yesterday, we drove down to Bowral for a lovely lunch with friends. We were a little nervous about 11 little children in an art gallery cafe but our children survived without annoying too many other patrons and all the mummies and daddies had a lovely time as well.

This is where we went:

Now since we are chatting about art galleries I think it is fitting to ...

announce another gorgeous giveaway!

I am very pleased to announce that the very stylish Viv from Ish & Chi has generously donated this stunning artwork from her beautiful etsy store:

Viv, like Heather from last weeks gorgeous Monday giveaway is another supermum. She creates really beautiful things. This butterfly artwork was made with Amy Butler Lotus Wall Flower fabric in Cherry. To win, all you need to do is check out her blog and her etsy store and let me know what tickles your fancy, maybe a great post on her blog or something pretty in her store. Easy!

Since the Tinker did such a lovely little job last week picking the winner from her hat, I think we will do it that way on Friday unless anyone suggests another fun way for her to announce the winner.

Oh and don't worry, winning does not mean you need to donate something special for a giveaway. I don't want anyone thinking they need to raid their husband's good tie drawer or anything. It was purely a coincidence that Viv won last week!

We have a WINNER!

Tinker decided 1am was party time at our place and we were up til just before 4am when she finally settled. She rewarded my patience with a sleep in til 7.30am. So after breakfast I wrote down 1 -34 on tiny bits of paper, let the Tinker choose a hat from her hat drawer and as promised I put all the numbers in there and let her pick the winner.

My friends from Hong Kong tell me this is very inauspicious number, however the 4th person to comment in the giveaway will certainly disagree. Viv, it's you! Please email me your details and I'll pass them on to the very generous Heather from Bebe & Alice who kindly donated this beautiful prize for the giveaway. Thank you again Heather, I know that Viv will adore her apron.

The gorgeous Viv from Ish and Chi! I am so happy, I know you will love this prize and isn't it ironic? Viv and I had already made plans to announce some very exciting news of our own on Monday so please stay tuned...

Something Sweet

As most of you know, I am a wannabe crafter. I buy all the gadgets and materials and then I either botch the projects or I just pack them away for when I suddenly acquire some talent and skill. Something I planned to do was frame some beautiful fabrics. As always I have not done this. I did start it, but I didn't finish. Ok so define 'start'?

Ok fine I didn't start it but I did prepare the project. I bought the fabric. Maybe one day.

I recently found Ish and Chi a fabulous Sydney based etsy store run by Viv the author of the gorgeous blog by the same name. She does wonderful things framing fabric so I thought I'd show you something really lovely from her Etsy store here:

You can buy this beauty HERE to hang on your wall for $25US I think it is a fantastic price for a really pretty piece of art. It isn't only something for Sydneysiders either, Ish & Chi ship internationally.

I am in love with peonies and had hoped to feature them in my wedding bouquets. Unfortunately they were not in season when I got married so ever since I have lusted after these beautiful flowers in any shape or form.

Have a great Friday folks, I'm off to prepare lunch. The Tinker and I have a lunch playdate today with my lovely friend Laura and her gorgeous girl Sophia.

xx
