By George, I've Got It!

Available here:
Maybe I have solved my shoe dilemma AND my mopping dilemma in one go?

Seriously.

I am thinking I might buy these beauties.

What have I become?

Flatting?

Yes, it is another shoe post from me.

Lets talk flats, I need some serious help. Until pregnancy & motherhood, I was a high heel kind of girl. Day and night I really just wore heels. Being short, unless you are Eva Longoria Parker then you have to wear heels or you look stumpy and squat.

Anyway these days I really need to wear flats, pushing a pram or chasing a toddler doesn't quite work with heels. I'm a big fan of ballet flats but they don't work with a lot of dresses and skirts. I like my pretty sandals but they only work with summery dresses and skirts.

So for those that wear flats, what would you suggest I wear with, say this dress here:

It is the classic DVF wrap, this print is Boko sort of a charcoal/purple/grey mix. Because I am not tall the flounce ends below the knee. If I wear ballet flats my calves look about 1 inch long. Sandals don't work because it looks like a wintery dress.

I wonder what Lorelai wore on her feet with this dress, probably heels.

I love my DVF wrap dresses, but now I have to wear flats I am struggling with footwear. The Boko is really pretty but I'm not able to wear it, it hangs limply in my wardrobe.

One Stop Divorce Shop

My husband once told me that if I ever dared to decorate our home with any sort of Griffon-related art he'd be forced to divorce me!

Growing up with two dogs, a black Scottish Terrier and a white West Highland Terrier his mother filled their house with Scotty & Westie craft. Cross stitches, calendars, cushions, doormats, coatsers. you name it! So kitsch, so funny.

Anyway when we got our two little Griffon Bruxellois dogs (the cutest breed on earth. Go on I dare you to argue with me) I was enamoured with my little bearded canine children. I really wanted some Griffon things. So I had to settle for things I was banned from displaying in the house like an umbrella with Griffons on it, a mug that I took to work, a pair of PJs, a bumper sticker, a coaster that I hid in my study and the exception I was allowed to have on display only once a year? Christmas tree decorations. Shut up I can hear you all snickering through the computer.

My husband has been annoying me of late so I am really tempted to buy him this piece of "art" as his anniversary gift!!

It is only $35 on Etsy here:

We could hang it downstairs in the room known as 'the man cave'. It is meant to be our media room where he can mix tunes for his podcasts and watch football and yell at Hawthorn with the door shut. It would look so lovely on his desk there...

Alternatively I could get him this delightful apron. I can just see him with a Bitburger in one hand and some tongs in the other. Turning meat on the BBQ wearing this:

Available here for $18.99US http://gifts.cafepress.com/item/if-its-not-a-griffon-its-j-bbq-apron/49520690

HELP!!

Help, I need some ideas!

It is my 2 year wedding anniversary in two weeks and I need a gift suggestion, the traditional theme is cotton and we are sticking with the traditional themes.

I bought a huge canvas print of one of our wedding photos. Figured canvas was cotton? Anyway it was meant to be a surprise but the twits at Australia Post delivered it at 7am this morning without even ringing the bell so as my husband left for work he bumped into it on our porch.

Great. So now the surprise is ruined and I want to give him another gift but I have no more ideas. It needs to be something reasonably priced since I went to a lot of expense with the bigger than life canvas thing.

He won't be reading this, he says he looks at my blog but I know he is lying so please if you have any ideas pop them in the comments section thanks!

Giselle- every mans dream?

That Amazonian beast with her legs that are about as long as my entire body and her perfect... well perfect everything really really must be every mans dream. I was reading a newspaper article today (news must be slow for this one to make it in there but that is another story) and it was all about Giselle's husband's "love child". Oooh-la-la.

Basically she found out a few months into her relationship with her now-husband that his exgirlfriend was pregnant with his baby. Giselle went on to marry this fellow and she says of this "love child" that "I understand that he has a mum, and I respect that, but to me it's not like because somebody else delivered him, that's not my child. I feel it is, 100 per cent. "I want him to have a great relationship with his mum, because that's important, but I love him the same way as if he were mine. "All this was a blessing. It made me feel more in love with Tom, it made me realise who he was."

So there you go. Not many women I know would sing that tune, I certainly wouldn't. AND she looks like this AND she will wash your car:

And I thought I was quite a catch making my husband a cheese and tomato sandwich on demand.

Easter eggs

Not sure what we are going to do for Ester this year, maybe our Tinker is old enough for an easter egg hunt. Might have to put some thought into it. In the mean time I am loving these little wooden eggs:

They are made by Haba. I really love Haba's wooden toys they are so beautifully made and they are a refreshing change to the loud flashing plastic toys of Fisher Price- banned in this house to save my ears and also because I don't think they are all that helpful for young minds. My daughter loves her wooden toys, I think sometimes toys are over complicated and while they might appeal to adults they aren't a hit with kids.

You can buy them here for $15.50 from this Australian store:

Everyone else could go for the Land of Nod store. They are US based but ship internationally. I have bought some lovely things there:
